January
VWH Triathlon 22nd January 2006
A few of us braved the elements in Jan and went off to VWH nr Swindon, where we had some excellent results. The newly formed junior boys team
of Hugo Flawn-Thomas, Hamish Glynn and Kristian Callaghan made a good start taking into account the increased run and swim time and the
complexity of one handed shooting ! Kristian claiming the club Tenner for a perfect "1000" shoot, well done.
The mini boys class was won by Ben Cookson, who also took best swim & run. Rebecca took an ind 6th place in the mini girls.
In the Mixed Mini-Minis (under 10), Piers Flawn-Thomas took 2nd place with best swim, Sam Courtier-Dutton a close 3rd and
Charlie Pike-Jones 6th making the team overall 2nd, well done.
Last but not least William made his first Biathlon, excellent start by taking 6th ind and being part of a mixed team which came 1st.

February
Cowdray Triathlon 19th February 2006
Continuing on in excellent form a squad of 13 (Charlie Pike-Jones unfortunately ill) travelled down some considerable distance to Chichester,
in what turned out to be long-standing appalling weather.
The shoot brought some excellent results; Rebecca Mayle shot a perfect 1000 to take mini girls shoot, Conner Edmonds 980 to take mini boys
shoot. The shooting standard amongst our members is generally higher than average, down to, I feel the excellent coaching John gives them
week in, week out.
The Run - well it was wet, it was muddy, it was slippery and above all it was LONG! They all bravely fought on, Jack and Ben Bishop
at their first event must have wondered if it was all it was cracked up to be ! Ben Cookson led the way with Best Run with
Piers Flawn-Thomas, Ashley Pulleyn and Ben Bishop in hot pursuit.
The Swim - much warmer indeed, best swim taken equally in the mini boys between Piers & Ashley. Again our standards are generally high
and it showed in the overall results. Mini team of Ben Cookson, Piers Flawn-Thomas & Ashley Pulleyn 1st Team; Sam Courtier-Dutton,
Conner Edmonds & Ben Bishop 3rd Team.
William Mayle had a go at Biathlon number 2, found it a bit harder going than VWH but ran all the way and swam a very acceptable 58m,
no ind placings in this one. Charlotte Shepheard probably had the hardest job of the day in what turned out to be the strongest class.
She bravely fought on, having excellent results in all three disciplines with a strong 8 length 7m swim, giving her an overall
placing of 3rd Ind. Junior boys were represented by Hamish Glynn, Ind 6th with a pb run and Jack Bishop, who made an excellent start
at his first event. The senior Girls Jo Sprules & Zoe Daniels competed heartily against each other as the only two competitors
in this class, Jo just winning the day by a small margin. Simon held up the side by taking on the Senior Boys including the 3k run
course! Individual 4th place went to him.
The Senior presentation took place earlier, hence these lucky folk got home but missed out on the photo opportunity, get you all next time..........
