Intermediates

Intermediate Eventing As you are all aware we had a really strong contingent of Intermediate Eventers in 2007 but naturally they moved on, either to compete at Open level or onto young horses so our representation was rather thin on the ground this year. However I can see that there will be lots more of you around to compete at the Intermediate level next year. However those few riders who were competing this summer have had a really successful time. Victoria Dance has worked really hard bringing on her youngster and everything came together just at the right moment - the Area Qualifiers at BCA when she won her arena and qualified for the Championships. Victoria had a really good time at the championships; they did a good dressage, had good show jumping but found the XC quite sticky. It was a full-up course and very wet going but they got round and finished well. Well done Victoria. Laura Burgess has also had a very good year. Audrey has begun to enjoy cross country, they had their first double clear at Tweseldown in May and conquered the water jump at several other venues. Their show jumping has also improved tremendously so their result at BCA was very commendable. Sadly Scarlett Harter was unable to make up a third for the team at BCA, because of previous holiday plans, but she has had a great year on the Eventing scene with her lovely big horse - Well done to all of you.

Novice Eventing

We have had a fantastic season despite the fact that the sunshine was reluctant to show itself often, yet the rain was happy to pop in on a regular basis! It was so encouraging to see that so many of you came forward for the regular jump training with both Megan Fletcher and Mark Corbett as well as attending Fiona's dressage training, this paid off tenfold with your consistent results throughout the season. Some of you joined us for the first time this year and will contest Novice level again next year others may be moving up to Intermediate level, but please do make the most of the many training sessions available to you in the build up to the season as a Pony Club we really are lucky to have so many on offer. The results are too numerous to mention and all have been circulated via the email group so here I will mention just a few to highlight the wonderful achievements of everyone. In April we started at Bisley, we had fantastic individual results with Katrina 2nd, Sam CD 4th and Matt Hick and Rhia Honey both 8th, so we decided to stay on until 7.45pm for the team results and were awarded with a 1st Place (thank goodness)! In May at Tweseldown Holly Carter was 5th, Sam Courtier-Dutton 6th and Emily Porter 8th. At Rosehill in June in the 2ft 9 class Erin Marsh and Piers Flawn Thomas were 4th, Rhia Honey was 5th and Matt Hick and Lauren Smith were 8th. In her first ODE on Finnegan Alice White contested the 2ft 6 class and won and featured on the cover page of the C&T Rider. In July we were at BCA for the Area Qualifier, where the team of Katrina Harris, Rhia Honey, Holly Carter and Alice White were 2nd overall and qualified for Cheshire, Jess Fox entered as an individual and finished 7th in her arena. Katrina, Alice and Holly made their way to Cheshire in August - sadly Rhiannon's pony was withdrawn due to injury but despite being hugely disappointed she provided the girls with lots of sweets for their long journey (not sure the mums and dads were over the moon as the girls were already in a hyperactive state). A great time was had by all and despite a technical XC course all three came home safely, with Alice posting a clear, on this occasion the girls were not placed but all have some fantastic experience under their belt.
