Area 13 Show Jumping Results 2011.
Well last Saturday (30th July 2011) saw our Intermediate, Novice and Mini teams all head off to Herriard Park ,
Nr Basingstoke for Area 13 SJ. The weather was lovely and not a rain drop in sight, it was so nice to see great team spirit and everyone
supporting one another.
Also you all should be very proud of yourselves for turning your horse/pony and yourselves out impeccably, you are a credit to the South Berks branch.
In the Intermediate ring the 1st round saw some good clear rounds jumped by Matt Hick and Piers Flawn-Thomas and also Justin Brown (but unfortunately Justin missed a fence and was eliminated, never mind Justin, Eadgyth jumped a fab clear round in our eyes). The 2nd round proved a lot more technical and caught the boys out with quite a few poles falling around the course, however a special mention must go to Rhia Honey who only had 4 faults. The Intermediate team were not placed however they were placed 4th in the tack and turnout competition. Well done.
The Novices 1st round also saw some good rounds jumped by Sophie Shields, Rebecca Mayle, Emma Durcan and Katie Mills who all had 4 faults, Brittany Pearse jumped a lovely clear round on the ever reliable Malcom. The 2nd round was also more technical with an imposing water tray added and caught out a few of our Novices, never mind you know what you need to practice at home now. Unfortunately Rosie Courtier-Dutton was not feeling well and did not compete in the second round, I hope you feel better soon Rosie. Brittany and Malcolm were very unlucky to role a pole in the second round and narrowly missed out on the jump off.
The Mini teams all did really well with some members competing for the 1st time for the club. In the 1st round which was very technical course that I have seen in a very long time in a mini ring, we had some excellent clear rounds from Morgan Bradford, Storm Ryan, Abby Faulkner, Saskia Silewicz and Emily Faulkner. Unfortunately Ella Moffat’s pony took a dislike to a pig filler and was eliminated. In the 2nd round they added a skinny wavy union jack plank jump that caused many problems. Both Morgan and Saskia jumped clear again and had to jump off for an individual rosette. Unfortunately both girls had those planks down and narrowly missed out on a place. However the South Berks A team ended up in 7th place overall out of 21 teams so many congratulations to Morgan Bradford, Storm Ryan, Abby Faulkner and Helena Silewicz who did not compete because she had a nasty fall in the warm up arena before the 1st round and was taken off to hospital. However I am pleased to report that Helena is absolutely fine.
Lastly can I say a big thank you to Joe Harter who came and course walked and warmed up the Intermediate and Novice teams, you certainly made a big difference in keeping everyone calm on the day not just our members but parents as well.
Once again well done to everyone.

Area 13 Show Jumping Results 2010.
Open: The day started very early for our open team which was inside in indoor arena,
the team of Alistair Matthews, Hannah Turnbull and Laura Burgess were not placed over
what proved to be an very up to height technical second round of which did not produce many
clear rounds. Special mention to Hannah who had 4 faults after 2 rounds, however the team
were 6th in the Tack and Turnout.
Intermediates: This was also held in the indoor arena straight after the open class.
We had two teams Hugo Flawn-Thomas, Justin Brown, Rhys Miller and Charlie Pyke-Jones,
and the other team of Alex Webb, Michael Webber, Hatty Burton and Rhia Honey who all put
in very good performances over what was also a very demanding 2nd round of which produce
not many clears, in fact only 6 double clears from over 60 competitors, special mention
must go to both Alex Webb and Charlie Pyke-Jones who both ended on 4 faults after 2 rounds.
The intermediate team of Alex, Michael, Hatty and Rhia were place 4th in the Tack and Turnout.
Novice: We had two Novices teams competing out on grass of which was quite slippery after the
rain over night. The team of Brittany Pearse, Charlotte Rowe-Jones, Rebecca James and Rosie
Courtier-Dutton and in the other team of Katie Mills, Lydia Wauchope and Alys Iliffe all did
very well especially to those competing at this level for the first time. The teams were not
placed however a special mention to Rebecca James who produced a lovely double clear,
Charlotte Rowe-Jones who had 4 faults over 2 rounds and to Rosie Courtier-Dutton on a very green pony.
The Novice Team of Brittany, Charlotte, Rebecca and Rosie were placed 4th in the Tack and Turnout.
Minis: We had two minis teams of Emily Faulkner, Emily Taylor and Alice Thatcher and the other
team of Hannah Webber, Helena Murray, Alex Rimmer and Abby Faulkner. Extremely well done to
those minis who were representing the branch for the first time. The team of Hannah, Helena
, Alex and Abby came a fantastic 4th place in what was a very exciting competition. Special
mention to Alice , Hannah, Alex and Abby who all jumped double clears, Helena Murray for 4 faults
over 2 rounds and to Abby for being nominated to doing the jump off. Well done.
Lastly can I thank personally Sharon Taylor, Caroline Frank and Hannah Turnbull for all their
help in walking the courses and warming you all up.
