Dressage

Dressage Information 2011

There is more opportunity than ever to compete in teams this year at all levels. We want to make this fun and accessible to as many people as possible. So don't be shy come on and give it a go even if you haven't considered it before. It is easier than you think.

BRAND NEW VIDEO DRESSAGE COMPETITION

South Berks PC is excited to introduce a new type of dressage competition which will be run monthly through the year.
Compete from your local outdoor/indoor school or grass arena at a time which suits you, without the trouble of travelling long distances, dressing up or waiting hours to collect your score sheet/rosette. All tests may be commanded.
What's the secret? Submit a video of a designated test and receive back by post your score sheet marked and constructively commented on by a BD listed judge, (and hopefully a rosette) We will also be running the 'Riders Test' along side each class, see below for details. It will cover all levels of dressage, from minis to seniors.

We believe it will help you improve your dressage skills and confidence at home without having to wait for Dressage competitions, which are few and far between, to get feedback. The regular practice and the filmed test are an invaluable experience for and your pony/horse for when you compete as an individual or in a team for South Berks

Inter-Branch Competitions
There will generally be classes for all levels of competitors. If anyone wants to compete at any of these events, then it is on a 'first come, first served' basis and teams will be assembled accordingly. Fiona and I should be on hand at these events to help out..

Other Pony Club Competitions
Entries: All Entries should be sent to Gill Burgess
Cheques to be made out to relevant pony club and don't forget to look out for extra costs such as medical cover and team fee.
Please include details of horse, rider and classes. All schedules will be put on the SBPC website.

Results: Please be responsible for collecting your own results and e-mailing them to me as they will count towards Area team selection. Sheets from inter-branch competitions, horse trials, combined training, BD events, or unaffiliated events can count.

Iona Gilchrist and Joe Goodenough had a very good warm up and practice for mini champs.
Well done to everyone, there are some outstanding results for your first time at areas and importantly you all made for great team spirit, which is after all what Pony Club is all about.

Rule Book
Please purchase a 2011 Rule Book as it has all of the essential information about the eligibility for riders and horses at Area and Championship Events and includes all relevant Dressage Tests.
It is you responsibility to check that both you, and your horse/pony, are eligible for the classes you enter, so please double check to avoid disappointment. NB: if it is your intention to compete wearing spurs and you are not a 'B' test holder, then please make sure you have the DC's permission and signature on the back of your Membership Card
Any questions or worries, please feel free to get in touch.
Dressage is fun and improves your all round riding. Let's have a happy and successful Dressage season and we look forward to seeing you all.
