Disciplines
The South Berks currently compete mainly at Dressage, Eventing and Showjumping,Triathlon and Tetrathlon although we do have a few members currently taking part in
Pony Racing as well. If you are interested in taking up any of the other disciplines run by the Pony Club (Polocrosse, PC Games etc), please contact
Nicki Honey - if there is enough interest from members we can start up some training.
At each discipline, there are different levels - we try to encourage as many of our members to take part either individually or in teams at every
level - you don't have to be the next Pippa Funnell, just safe and reasonably confident and whatever level you choose

Minis/Juniors - these tend to be our younger members, although often more experienced members with new ponies will go back to 'mini' level
until the partnership gels - at this level the dressage tests are fairly straightforward, and the heights jumped are from 1'9 to 2'6. The aim is to get members used to going out to competitions, to learn the rules, but above all to have fun!
Novice - this is for those members with a bit more experience, as the heights jumped are 2'9 to 3'0
Intermediate - the competition starts to hot up a bit at this level, the dressage tests are more complex and the jumping heights are 3'0 to 3'3
Open - this level is for our most experienced members- the dressage standards are high and they need to be able to jump 3'3 to 3'6
Each discipline/level has coordinator (details on the relevant pages) - to come and join us and have fun at the various competitions throughout the
year just get in contact with them. All the contact details can be found on the Contacts page

Just a friendly reminder to all members who wish to be on a team that it is a Head Office requirement and for which there will be no exception that: -
All horses and ponies must have genuinely participated at a minimum of 3 working rallies since 1st July in the previous year, one of which may be in the current year with a member of the Pony Club.
All riders must be active members of the stated branch of the Pony Club who have participated in a minimum of 3 working rallies since the 1st July in the previous year, excluding team practices and coaching and have been Members of the Pony Club since at least the 31st January in the current year. Attendance at camp counts as one working rally.
You should also be aware that if you would like to be considered for more than one discipline at the Area Qualifier that if you compete at Novice Level Eventing and you also wanted to do the SJ Qualifier that would have to be at Novice also in other words you could not do Novice Level Eventing and Intermediate Show Jumping,
Please do read the eligibility rules (Rule No 31) can be found on Pages 51 - 53 of your eventing hand books, available for download from the HQ website www.pcuk.org or in the attachment earlier it is very important that we adhere to them or the whole team could be disqualified.
If you have any questions about any of the Disciplines then please contact either myself or the Discipline Head, preferably by email so that we can go and source the information you need and then reply. All contact details are on the contacts sheet.

There is also a 14 month transfer rule which affects you if you have joined us from another pony club in the past 14 months so please let me know if this is the case and I will explain.
It is a minefield of rules and regulations especially if you have not taken part before, so please don't feel that any question is a stupid question any of us will be more than happy to help if you are unsure of something.
